To the west of Scarinish lie the spread out hamlets of Heanish and Baugh. Beyond these the coast opens out onto yet another sweeping beach of brilliant white sand - Traigh Bhagh. Baugh has traditionally been the home of Tiree's doctor and on a small hill there is a monument to Dr Buchanan.

"In Loving memory of Dr Alexander Buchanan - Born at Callander 4th October 1835 - Died at Tiree 29th April 1911 - For 51 years the medical officer and loved and valued friend of the islanders.

This monument is erected to his loving memory by friends in Tiree and abroad."

The new health clinic for the Isle of Tiree is still situated in Baugh.
