The gneisses of Tiree began as granites, sediments and volcanic rocks but after billions of years of heat and pressure have been transformed into hard and crystalline metamorphic rocks.
The island of Tiree is situated off the west coast of Scotland and is unique among Scottish islands. Azure sea and clear skies watersports, pretty cottages and relaxing surroundings encourage visitors to return again and again. For details go to the Tiree Map page.
